DELUXE SURVIVOR SLING

Deluxe Survivor Sling

The Deluxe Survivor Sling, commonly referred to as a horse collar or rescue strop, was originally designed for the Japan Coast Guard. It provides a quick, safe means of hoisting uninjured persons; it is widely used in rescue work from a helicopter over water or land, and for inserting or extracting personnel from places that helicopters cannot land, such as lowering a marine pilot onto a ship.

For hoist-equipped helicopters, the Deluxe Survivor Sling is lowered on a hoist cable from the helicopter to the rescue technician or other trained personnel. For fixed load line systems (short-haul or Emergco’s Helicopter External Transport System) the Deluxe Survivor Sling is attached to the load line.
